What is respite care?
The Oaks Bungalow can offer short stays, which can be as short as a night, week or as long as you need us. However long your stay, our staff will always be there to support. Respite care short breaks can provide you and your young adult with a well-earned rest and an opportunity for your young adult to have support from warm, friendly staff in a safe environment. We will work closely with you and your young adult to get to know what is important to them and that your care and support package is tailored to meet your needs. At The Oaks Respite Services, our bungalow provide expert respite care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in a homely and welcoming environment. Whether it’s covering a two-week holiday, a short break, or needed urgently because of sickness or a family emergency, we’re here when you need us.
Who is it for?
We work closely with our parent company Shine Cymru Life Skills Services to provide a wrap around service on evenings and weekends. Our respite care is suitable for young adults 18+ with an array of care and support needs, with the aim to enable people who visit us to get the very best out of life.
We would also consider young adults who currently do not attend Shine. An appropriate assessment and transition would be undertaken to ensure suitability.

The Oaks Respite Services is a company owned and run by Shine Cymru Life Skills Services. The Oaks will be managed to the same exceptional care standards and will integrate with Shines policies, procedures and ethos. Shine Management will ensure that their knowledge and expertise is implemented at the Oaks and that the Shine Family ethos carries through.
However long your young adult stays with us, we believe in the importance of getting to know them, their history, what they like and what they don’t like, so we can provide a truly person-centred care and support plan to help them achieve their goals. As we are regulated by the Care Inspectorate of Wales (CIW), you can have a few days’ rest safe in the knowledge that your young adult is being cared for by our skilled staff and has everything they need. We truly believe finding the right home to stay in is not just about care, it is also about peace of mind and feeling settled and safe
